Preventive Care

Dr. Mandeep Randhawa and the rest of the team here at our Roseville dental office are able to perform a number of complex dental services, designed to treat a range of dental health conditions. Ideally, however, we’d like to prevent the need for those treatments entirely.

You probably schedule regular check-ups for yourself and your family with your physician. You know that it’s important to check your cholesterol and get regular physical examinations to prevent disease or catch it early, but maybe you never realized that regular dental examinations and cleanings are just as important to your family’s health.

Professional Cleanings

You do a great job brushing your teeth everyday, so why do you need a professional cleaning? The truth is, while regular brushing with good technique will go a long way toward preventing cavities from developing, it’s practically impossible to completely remove all the plaque from your teeth.

Your teeth are full of nooks and crannies that provide places for plaque to hide, especially just below the gumline. Over time, the plaque will harden into tartar, which can only be removed with professional instruments. If this tartar is left on your teeth for a significant period of time, the result will be cavities and decay. If tartar is allowed to remain beneath the gumline, you will begin to develop gum disease, an irreversible chronic disease that can cause severe damage to your gum and bone tissue and has been linked to a number of serious health conditions including diabetes, heart disease, and some types of cancer.

Our hygienists gently and thoroughly remove the plaque and tartar from all the surfaces of your teeth, giving you a fresh start every six months.

Routine Examinations

Regular examinations are the foundation of good dental health. During your examination, Dr. Rhandawa will thoroughly examine not just your teeth, but also your gums, your jaws, the way your bite lines up, and your soft tissues. He’ll be checking for any signs of decay, gum disease, disorders of the jaw, and oral cancer. We will also take x-rays on a regular basis so that Dr. Rhandawa can see what’s going on beneath your gumline and under the surface of your enamel.

The goal of regular examinations is to catch any developing problems in their earliest stages so that we can treat them simply and comfortably with the most conservative dental treatments possible. By visiting our office regularly for routine dental appointments, you can save yourself hours of hassle and a great deal of money - not to mention pain and discomfort.

If Dr. Rhandawa spots any potential problems, he will discuss these with you in such a way that you will understand completely what is going on. He will also recommend a treatment plan or course of action. He will outline your options so that you can make an informed and educated decision about your dental health.

If it’s time for an examination and cleaning – even if you are overdue – give us a call today. We can’t wait to be a part of your family’s healthcare team.
